Hello GWC/Warhammer Joint Gamers
I've created this forum for fellow Skaven gamers in the hopes that it will allow us all to become master gamers, and be able to use the Skaven army to its maximum potential. Feel free to jump in and add any useful painting/modelling/gaming advice. Simply open with a topic sentence, i.e "Painting Skaven," and sign off with your name.
Here are a few things to get the ball rolling.
Keep on keepin' on!

"Skaven Battle Advice"
I think one of the most advantageous things about being a Skaven gamer is that you don't necessarily have to be "fair." You still have to follow the rules- but what I meant is, you can use tactics that other races would find dishonourable or pathetic. The truth is- Skaven are a mob of pathetic rats anyway- so use that to your advantage. Do not however, use it as an excuse to bend the rules or cheat.
1. I like to let my Skaven stay put during their first movement turn, as this allows me to see where people are headed to, so I can be a step ahead.
Not moving your Skaven also prevents you from being ambushed by a gang of skirmishers, and from walking into a hazard, like a spell or ballistic range.
2. Don't feel like you have to accept formal challenges. Skaven are cowardly by themselves, and in most cases, it is quite stupid leaving a Skaven by himself.
3. Skaven are infamous for their large numbers, so be sure to bolster your ranks with core units. Sure, add a few Rat Ogres and Jezzail Teams into the mix- but if you have the points, purchase another squad of Clanrats, Plague Monks, Stormvermin, etc.
4. Never- under any circumstance- forget the "Burrow Back" rule. Once a Skaven model (of any kind, Rat Ogres, Giant Rats, Grey Seers) has been slain, roll a dice. On the roll of a six, a Clanrat "burrows back" from the underground and takes the dead Skaven's place on the battlefield, starting from the nearest board edge. Note, that this rule can only be applied once for each model throughout the match, and resurrected Skaven do not count as victory points.
If you're short on Clanrat models, just use the same Skaven model that has just died- but rememeber, it is now just a Clanrat.
5. Find the humour when your models electrocute/poison/explode themselves. The "Burrow Back" rule still applies for negligent Skaven who have somehow managed to kill themselves.
